Fate is introduced as an antagonist and rival to Nanoha Takamachi, she first encounters Nanoha during the Jewel Seed Incident while collecting the Lost Logia known as the Jewel Seeds on behalf of her abusive mother, Presea Testarossa. Despite their initial conflict, the two develop a close friendship that evolves into a lifelong partnership.
